Usually taking the subway to travel across the city of New York, I have a tendency to look at posters placed throughout the subway. With the art card from Red Nose Studios, brought with it a visual appeal that had been added onto the art posters of MTA subways. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has many different art posters for subway passengers to view from the arts and design posters. The art card "The Blowing Bowler" was one of those pieces that intrigued me when I am traveling between home and my destinations. I take a liking to many of the art cards that MTA present on their subways. "The Blowing Bowler" created by illustrator Chris Sickels from Red Nose Studios. Completed by 2015 it had led to the creation of its next iteration, a stop motion animation developed by Will McCord of MTA Arts&Design from March 10 of 2016. The work now presented at the Fultan Center Station set to view for two minutes once every hour. The animation was created from inexpensive paper materials such as "card board, chip board, cereal box cardboard. All of the work and material were hand made by the artist himself.
The "The Blowing Bowler" is a piece of art that I sometimes encounter on my trip using the subway. The art card includes the Beach Pneumatic Transit Company subway from 1870 and the modern R-188 car design where there depicts a man trying to catch his bowler hat flying across the train platform. The man in the art poster running from one train to the next reminds me of how busy the commute is between each train station and the long distances traveled. Even though I don't know if the man is just chasing his bowler hat or if he is also trying to catch the subway on the other side of the platform.
