Janet Napolitano fighting for DACA
Janet Napolitano, the former secretary of Homeland Security,
helped craft the program that President Trump wants to kill.
Napolitano
sued the Trump administration on Friday to protect the hundreds of thousands undocumented
immigrants of being taken away their work authorization or being deported. She was
the creator of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA).
The former Secretary
of Homeland Security, claims that Trump administration decision to revoke the
program infringes the Administrative Procedure Act and constitutional due to
process. The law suit immediately following by a complaint of 15 states and the
District of Columbia and a challenge by a former recipient of the program. All intending
to protect DACA.
Even though
the lawsuits were not fruitful, is possible that more federal judges could
issue a restriction of the termination of DACA.
Trump give a
six months’ window to work with the congress before many Dreamers lose their work
permits and protections. Napolitano wants to keep fighting.
“I believe
that in this case the court should act,” Napolitano said, “or in the
alternative Congress should act and settle this matter for once and for all.”
