The Anti-LGBTQ President

Under the Trump administration, discrimination of the LGBTQ community has risen as the president put further efforts in distinguishing them from the general populace. During the presidential campaign, Mr. Trump seemed more resilient about the LGBTQ community. With the president coming from that state of New York, some have considered that the president was more lenient about the issue of people's sexual orientations. Similar to former President Ronald Reagan who had gay friends while still in Hollywood, President Trump also knew some gays people. Under the Reagan administration, neglect of HIV and AIDS had lead to thousands of civilian to perish. Without making funding to the research of the newly epidemic, President Reagan was met with much demands from activists. The Trump administration had showed the under it's supervision that LGBTQ people's supportive funding is being cut and neglected. More recently, President Trump had banned transgendered people from serving in the army which had led to much dispute.

Based on the author's post, Michelangelo Signorile, President Trump is considered "the most anti-LGBTQ president in U.S. history." I could see that the president has made major changes from the last few administration on dealing with the LGBTQ community. "Trump has only been in office for a little less than eight months and yet, as hard as this may be to believe, the pro-active anti-LGBTQ measures he’s originated and enacted are greater in number and depth than those taken by Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and all other presidents - during their entire terms, combined." From Mr.Signorile perspective, he is well informed by the president's reflection on the activities of people of different sexual orientations and how they are being treated under the government. I feel that perhaps if the whole government is more lenient on this issue, it would then pressure the Trump administration to turn on a more positive view on how LGBTQ individuals should be better treated.
